The coastal city of Trogir in Croatia has proudly unveiled its newest architectural achievement—a pedestrian bridge spanning the waterway Foša. This ambitious project, valued at one million euros, saw its structure assembled under the watchful eyes of numerous locals on a Wednesday evening. In approximately a month’s time, the bridge will welcome its first pedestrians, contingent on favourable weather conditions.

This bridge is part of a wider pedestrian network, creating a seamless walkway from parking area T1 to the scenic Fortin Park. It features a unique design, incorporating 29 fixed seats for passers-by, complemented by leisure attractions such as play and relaxation nets. The bridge itself is a robust construction, weighing 65 tonnes, and extends over 30 metres in length, with a height exceeding four metres.

The mayor of Trogir, Ante Bilić, expressed his enthusiasm for the project at the bridge’s inauguration. He emphasized that this bridge over Foša is more than just a crossing; it represents a significant enhancement of European standards for the city. Mayor Bilić looks forward to the completion of the final amenities, such as approach paths and lighting, hoping for all to be operational within the next month, again depending on the weather.

This architectural masterpiece was chosen from a robust competitive field, as the city’s authorities considered 26 different proposals before settling on the current design. Such a decision underscores Trogir’s commitment to adopting only top-tier solutions for its urban development.

The bridge’s addition is more than a visual update; it epitomizes an essential infrastructural advancement. It notably reduces the distance from Trogir’s historic urban core to the mainland, particularly benefitting senior residents with nearby access to essential services like health centres, pharmacies, schools, and banks. Mayor Bilić expressed contentment at the bridge’s successful installation, acknowledging it as a long overdue yet vital enhancement for the city.
