A childhood spark for teaching
Andrea discovered her passion for education early on, influenced by her open-minded grandmother who believed in hands-on learning. Even as a child, she loved lining up her toys and leading imaginary lessons, reflecting a natural inclination toward guiding and inspiring others.
“As a child, I loved pretending to teach my toys.”
Inspired by her grandmother’s perspective that education should be interactive and dynamic, Andrea came to believe that true understanding grows through practical exploration. This viewpoint would eventually shape her own style of teaching, prioritising creativity and student engagement over rote learning.
Exploring the forest with ROOTS
When she isn’t in lessons, Andrea dedicates her weekends to a forest workshop centre called ROOTS, which she co-founded for children aged four to seven. Sparked by her three-year-old son’s curiosity, these sessions revolve around building wooden forts, searching for animal tracks, and learning to respect nature.
Supported by the local community, Andrea and her team run morning sessions on weekends, offering outdoor adventures or indoor crafts when the weather is uncooperative. This child-centred, discovery-based philosophy mirrors her overall approach to teaching – she believes that genuine engagement is the cornerstone of lasting knowledge.
Where practical meets language
As a teacher at Let’s Learn and the learning coordinator for English-speaking students worldwide, Andrea strives to make lessons approachable and enjoyable. She understands that the first steps in language learning can be tough, so she prioritises creating a supportive space where learners feel free to speak, experiment, and grow.
“Learning a language should be more engaging and not just about memorizing grammar rules.”
Rather than relying on textbooks alone, Andrea blends conversation, cultural context, and practical tasks into her lessons. Her hands-on approach reflects her broader teaching philosophy – tailored, interactive, and always focused on real-world application. In her coordinator role, she also ensures each new student finds the right course, matches them with suitable teachers, and supports them through every step of their learning journey.
Travelling, food, and family time
Andrea loves visiting scenic coastal towns for their vibrant festivals and open-air events. She’s also fond of exploring regional dishes at local gatherings – an enjoyable way to connect tradition with modern community life. Whether she’s sampling new flavours or discovering hidden gems, she treasures the moments that broaden her horizons.
At home, her husband leads many of the kitchen adventures – an ideal setup given her busy schedule of lessons and forest workshops. Alongside their son, they spend evenings immersed in dinosaur picture books, blending family togetherness with a shared love of learning that permeates everything Andrea does.

Moments that make teaching worthwhile
Andrea finds one of the greatest rewards in finally meeting her online students face-to-face and witnessing their growing confidence in real-life conversations. These experiences reaffirm the value of her interactive, student-focused methods and motivate her to keep innovating.
“Meeting students face-to-face was an amazing reminder of why I love what I do.”

Andrea’s story highlights the harmony between language and nature – an approach that nurtures curiosity and genuine connection. Whether she’s guiding learners through interactive lessons or sparking children’s imaginations in the forest, she demonstrates that true growth happens where passion and creativity converge.
